If you’ve recently had Antivirus 2009 pop up on your computer, you’re probably wondering where it came from. Did somebody else do you a favor by downloading some helpful security software on your computer?
I’m afraid that nobody did you any favors, and you don’t have new security software! This program is anything but a real anti-virus program. It’s what’s known in the security industry as “rogue antispyware.”
What is rogue antispyware? It’s a misleading term, is what it is! It gives the impression that Antivirus really is a spyware program, that is just somehow out of control. But that’s not the case–not at all!
It is rather a FAKE antispyware/antivirus program. If its scan yields any legitimate results, it’s only a ploy. This software actually put those infections on your computer, so it’d seem like it was doing a good job!
But all it really wants to do is try and scare you into buying its “upgraded” version. As you might guess, the paid version will do nothing but just take your money. In the meantime, you also might have to deal with:
Hijacked browsers. This program will often hijack your browser, inserting an ad in Google results that advertises its paid version. Many people have been fooled this way into thinking it’s a legitimate program.
Generate annoying pop-ups while you browse the web. What’s worse is that these pop-ups are so well-done, they often look legitimate. This is just another way to try and fool you into buying the useless paid version.
Install other types of malicious software, such as spyware. A malicious program like this will often act as a Trojan horse, allowing other kinds of spyware in your system. Thus your computer becomes even more compromised, and your safety is at risk!
Regenerate. Many people have thought they’ve removed Antivirus 2009, only to have it show up again when they restarted their computer! This is because it will hide multiple files in multiple places (often very sensitive places like DLL files and registry keys). You can really screw up your computer if you delete some of these.
It’s easy to miss one or more of the files it’s hiding on. If you do, the program will regenerate itself again, the next time you start your computer!
I developed a program back in 2004 that could deal with these kind of malicious, ever-present software. I’ll be honest and tell you that it didn’t always work so well at first. But I’ve got it working well enough these days that I’ll offer a 100% money-back guarantee to anyone who uses it and still can’t rid their computer of malicious software.
I HATE giving money back (doesn’t everybody). So I work hard to make sure this software does its job!
If your current antivirus program can take care of this threat, then more power to you! But if it can’t, I’ll be happy to let you try Spyzooka, completely risk-free.
